That rifle looks to be M83, if not altered?
M88 has the front sight end of the barrel, like AK47, not on the gasblock, like M83.
Gas piston is the way to go!

Samppa,

All Hunters (also known as M88) in North America have the front sight on the gas block, except for Hunters chambered in .30-06, which have it at the end of the barrel. I've never heard of the M83 designation. It might be unique to Europe.
