Galil .308 ARM Mossberg

Post by M62/M76 » Fri Jul 01, 2016 12:23 pm

Just picked up a Galil .308 ARM.
It was one of the Mossberg Galil's.
Mossberg is milled off of the receiver.
Looks absolutely perfect, in every way.
Came with tan factory sling, Israeli cleaning kit and 12 magazines.
From what I've read, it is a rare bird.

Fired 200 rounds of ball yesterday.
Flawless performance.
Steel plate at 200 yards, every time.

OK, so it's an IMI Galil in .308, is Mossberg stamped on the receiver?

Mossberg was milled off.
It was to the left of North Haven.

I just remembered; I had a Galil in 308 about 25 years ago, I think it had a shorter barrel but also less writing on the receiver. it also had a flat bracket on the left side of the receiver for an IMI scope mount, which I also had. It was apparently a sniper model, but I forget the details.

Worst mistake I ever made with a firearm, I traded the Galil for night vision; dumb. But at that time, cheap Russian or Chinese night vision hadn't come into the US yet, and the binocular set I got were at the time the best military grade out there, Litton made it I think. Worth over $4000 at that time.

But as you know, night vision prices came down when the market got flooded, and then I wished I had kept that Galil. I had something like six NIB 30 round magazines and a couple more for shooting. Yeah, big mistake.

How many mags did you get with yours?

I just looked at your photo again; yours has a slot on the left side of the receiver; that could be for a scope mount; I just seem to recall a separate mount, but maybe that is on my Dragunov?? It's in storage and haven't seen it in years.
