WTK: Values of Galils: pre and post Bush ban

Post by Juno Valmet » Wed Feb 19, 2014 10:31 am

Looking at 329S post ban with 922 conversion parts.
What is difference in values between preban with lug and flashhider, vs post ban imports.

Thanks

I presume that your "S" is a later model, with thumbhole stock, no flash hider, no night sights, no bipod/attachment, with 922r parts replacing these!!! :D
The only lugged models would be the MR and MR/AAL transition models, which are generally $1,500.00- $2,000.00 more than the later "S" model.
The very early "S" models were configured exactly like the pre-89 models (folding stock, flash hider, night sights, bipod on the ARM), with the exception of the "S" stamp.

What would be a price range for a 922 converted 308 Galil?

Is $2000 about right for a good 922 conversion or too high?

Seems $2800 to 3500 is range for good preban??

Thanks to Tony for reply.

Did any of the AA "329" models (pre '89 ban or post-ban) ever have a bayonet lug and provision for a bipod? If I remember correctly, the pre-ban models had a Galil flash suppressor and, maybe, night sights but no bayonet lug or bipod.

Again, if I remember correctly, both Action Arms and Springfield Armory, Inc. brought in and sold some post-ban 329 sporters. I think some attribute a little more value to rifles with AA serial numbers. It's hard to assign a value to a specific conversion. The overall condition of the rifle, who performed the conversion, one's "gut" feeling, warranty, etc. all play a role. In my opinion (and a general rule for ME)... I would not pay more than 67% of the value of a pre '89 rilfe and, in most cases, less.
