OK guys. I just got home and found the two magazines I ordered. Both are in excellent condition. They appear to be in new condition. They fit my Galil rifle perfectly and also, with a little effort, lock into place in my Valmet M78 (milled receiver). Neither show any LEO or other restrictive markings. I've taken photos of the markings of one of my pre-1989 IMI magazines and one of the magazines just received. The markings look pretty much the same. The Pre-1989 lettering is a little sharper. Here you go:

I wondered, too, whether the magazines might be refinished. The "B" does appear "filled in." I don't know, though, how the markings are applied. The "B" appears to be a stamping rather than an engraving.

The finish is not a smooth as the pre-1989 magazine and seems to be "thicker" (if that makes sense). I don't know whether IMI made commercial grade magazines in the 1980s for its USA export rifles or if IMI just shipped standard magazines with the rifles.

From a legal perspective... I'm surprised that we're seeing such recent dates on these magazines. Isn't the import of foreign made high capacity magazines prohibited, or did that go away in 2004?

Regardless... the quality of these "new" magazines seems top notch to me.
