valmet stock adapters options?
Perhaps this has been discussed previously, but does anyone know of a stock adapter for both milled and stamped receiver valmets? Those doing Hunter to Galil clone conversions must have come across this issue (mostly in Canada I assume).
Presumably there could be several variants:
slant cut milled to M4/A2
slant cut milled to Galil
slant cut milled to Ace
Other?
stamped to M4/A2
stamped to Galil
stamped to Ace
Other?
If I understand correctly, depending on design considerations, a slant cut M4/A2 adapter could conceivably be a bolt on affair using a shortened stock bolt, without altering the firearm. Or flush machine screws into the slanted milled receiver stub sides? Has any one done either of these? Is the stock bolt slanted down or in line with the receiver?
A stamped receiver adapter could be made as an integrated rear trunnion that could replace the existing rear trunnion, with the rivets drilled out (horror...) and replaced by hex head machine screws (you could restore the original with new rivets as required). Has anyone ever attempted this, any R&D, CAD drawings etc?
I asked a gunsmith in Finland if he would be interested in producing a stock adapter for the slant cut Petra and to make it economically viable he said he would need to produce min 100 pieces. Do forum members think that there is a big enough market to sell 100 pieces and if so, which variants would be most popular? I would guess slant cut to M4/A2 and stamped to M4/A2?
I was thinking of making a prototype for a stamped rear receiver- does anyone know of a donor rear Valmet trunnion or an AK trunnion that would be a close fit that I could mod?
No reason valmet owners should be left behind in this kind of reversible/non permanent modernization, without reducing the value of their firearms to collectors.
Any thoughts, considerations or info on existing sources and projects welcome.
cheers.

Here is a guy who makes Galil stock adapter rear trunions:

Re: valmet stock adapters options?
Not much feedback on this forum- or maybe people are only interested in historical configurations for their valmets. In any case, here are some renderings of two possible adapters for comments- neither of which would alter the original firearm in any way. One is milled slant back to Ace style stock. The second is stamped to A2 style back with QD swivel slots at 3, 9 and 12 o'clock. These are roughly accurate but just mock-ups.
Feedback welcome.

I have AR-15 stock adapter made for my RK62/Galil. Made in Finland.
I have not attached it yet but planning to put it on my RK62/Galil hybrid.

Re: valmet stock adapters options?
Hi!
I was searching for a replacement stock (with or without a pistol grip) for my valmet petra .308 for a while, finally I fitted an ATI foldable stock that I had on my Remington 887 shotgun before I sold it, surprisingly it is not too ugly and fitting quite well! no alteration to the rifle and no adatator needed, the screw from the ATI stock was the same diameter as the screw from the wood stock, if tight the stock is not moving, I had it on the rifle for a few months and hunted with it, so far so good...cheers

Re: valmet stock adapters options?
CNC Warror makes a stock that screws into the Yugo AK's, maybe it could be modified to fit a Valmet:

Re: valmet stock adapters options?
I m going to trade school and was going to try to make something like this, but have a hard time figuring out the angles on the reciver. Dont have my messurements here, but think it endes up at about 57degrees at rare reciver slant?. If you would share your drawings/files with me i would much apriciate it. I have accses to 3d printer and cnc/mil/lathe at school, so i can make one and test it on my valmet Petra project if you are interested.
Sorry for my lese than ideal English. Not my first Language.
Re: valmet stock adapters options?
Hi Madlychip,
I have a 3d printer so will print one to test and refine the model a bit. Then I can send you a CAD model to test. Sounds like you're interested in the slant back stock adapter, as opposed to the stamped m76 adapter, right?
For the stamped M76/8 to A2 stock adapter I need the measurement of the distance between the buffer tube hole to the smaller alignment hole below it on the A2- in case anyone can measure that for me- that would be helpful.
cheers,
David

adapter for milled reciver to use ace stock. and adapter to use magpul ak grip. they might not fit perfectly cosmeticaly, but it sould be quite useable.
