Scope mount on Valmet M76

Post by RAEXCCT2 » Sat Aug 08, 2015 1:29 am

I am finally a Valmet owner again after having to sell my Valmet M76 to help finance my daughter's college tuition.

Unfortunately my vision has gotten worse due to type 2 diabetes and I want to mount a scope on my Valmet M76 .223 wood stock rifle.

My question is, which scope mount should I use or should I just forego mounting a scope on a Valmet M76? The only scoped Valmets I've seen were the Odin International M78/83S.

Any help would be greatly appreciated especially if I can find a real Finnish scope mount for the M76.

There is a M76 top cover with scope rail--- the M78/83S scope rail would necessitate drilling mounting holes into the receiver!!! :D
Check GB/EB--- these top covers do come up for sale.

I already have some top cover scope rails to weld to the top cover and the detachable scope base but as with most top cover mounts I don't think they are sturdy enough to hold their zero. I want a scope mount that will hold its zero which is why I was thinking of using a side mount.

i think that Midwes Industries 30mm AK mount looks both badass and practical. Too bad the yankees have problems sending them overseas...

Problem with that mount is that you can't use iron sighted top cover on your Valmet.

True. But the dust cover on the valmet petra is hardly an unmovable object. With a 40mm scope, it moves around too much for my liking. And the MI scope mount is actually fastened to an AK-rail, so it's detatchable.

most ak side rail mounts require drilling into the receiver.....most valmet collectors are not interested in drilling holes in the receiver.
.....i have heard about a mount that uses the valmet pin holes already in the valmet receiver.....still havent seen one.
