Receiver to Barrel assembly

Post by 329 » Tue Dec 16, 2014 6:27 am

Hi,
Just curious on how the barrel of a Valmet is attached to the receiver.

I know on a 5.56 Galil; the barrel has a 21MM X 1.5 thread and it is screwed in to a certain torque.

It5 seems that there is 2 visible pins on the trunion for a Valmet (one on each side); didn't know if they were a slip fit, then pinned into place.

Thanks

All Valmet barrels are threaded no matter if there is a trunion (stamped receiver) or plain milled receiver. Look at the armorers manual page 48.
You just need to punch out that one pin before taking the barrel out.

I heard that the barrel thread is larger (24MM ?)

Thanks again.

I have not been here for a while. My account was missing and could't find my password and same time my email account was changed so I couldn't reset my password.

I will check my gunsmith and ask the barrel thread which one it is.

I've also read that the thread is larger - 26x1.5M so I'm looking forward to Sako's answer too :)
