WTK MAG INTERCHANGE FOR M78

Post by dedkin » Tue Sep 02, 2014 2:04 pm

I acquired a Valmet M78 RPK stamped receiver and would like to know if Galil 308 IWI 25 rd steel mags will function correctly?

No the feed angle can be incorrect. You need a real Valmet mag.

The 7.62 x 51 (.308) IWI (or IMI) Galil magazines will fit (sometime very snugly) and can be used in the MILLED M78 Valmet rifles. I've been told, however, that they will not work for the STAMPED receiver M78 Valmets.

Also... Dedkin.... Welcome to the Valmet.org forums! There's a lot of good info on these boards. We're glad you're here.

Welcome to the site--- either the "factory" phosphated (converted Swedish AK4, marked Crown over C, over 01/81 or 06/81--- usually seen with stamped receivers), or blued (with reinforcement at top)!!! :D

Both varaiations of magazines can be found on GB--- unfortunately, they are priced between about $200.00- $250.00!!!
