Is there any aftermarket furnature that would fit a M-78

Post by bruh44 » Tue May 06, 2014 2:09 pm

My tax stamp cam through and I finally have my M-78! It's a milled 7.62x39 gun. I was thinking if I could find aftermarket furniture for it to save the original maybe I would. I'm not seeing anything out there even close. The closest I saw that I thought might was the Tapco AK/ Galil forgrip. It looked like you might be able to fit it. Anyone ever tried any of this?

Also will a M-76 and M-78 interchange handguards? I ask because I found one for sale listed for both but it's definately a M-76 handguard.

You should be able to get a set of 76 HGs to fit a 78/71, and visa versa, but you would need the proprietary rear HG bracket for each set of HGs.
There is a seller out of Finland who usually has the M-76 rear bracket.
I have one of each, I can post pics if you need. Good luck.

Interesting. I don't think I've seen a milled M78 chambered for the 7.62x39 cartridge.

It was converted to auto and 7.62x39 from 308 by Hard Times Armory. It runs great though. The mags sit a little loose but it runs well. I thought it had a gas issue to start but it sat for a couple years before I got it. I think there was carbon built up in the gas tube because it's been running great. Most of it is actual valmet. The bolt is a standard AK bolt.
