Valmet Drum?

Post by RM308 » Sat Jul 30, 2011 8:04 am

A gun store near me has a obviously used drum mag with a paper tag on it saying it was a valmet mag. Looks like a chinese mag, 75 round, with a winder. Did Valmet ever make a drum?

I'm going back today with my glasses to look for any markings..

Thanks

I don't know if any such magazines were manufactured by Valmet, but I have an old photograph of a Valmet M78 rifle with a drum magazine.

That's what I thought. Anyhow, it has no markings I can see.

Thanks

I did see a gloss blue, like the mags, marked "Valmet" a while back. I can't verify that it isn't a fake.

There was a chinese .223 drum mag that could be converted to fit in a Valmet. Chinese mags for .223 Valmet's were common before Tony at Tromix started to make conversions of Bulgarian and Weiger mags.

If it is a 7.62 drum that says Valmet, well you can get those stamps at Harbor Freight.

Polytech .223 drums can be made to fit Valmets. Not Norinco.
