My SAKO M92 Clone....finally done !!!

Post by Vulcan Imports » Tue Jun 14, 2005 7:09 pm

OK, after 4 1/2 years, here it is. Troy Sellars did the gunsmith work and machining, and Lauer Custom finished in the Green-Gray and did the markings...

It was quite an intensive process. It started out as a M62 Valmet. Everything was disassembled, and fixures were added to the Reciever to replicate that SAKO curve at the mag well. The threaded holes and recessed areas ( for a scope mount) and the engraving on the left of the reciever took some time. A partial parts kit was available here in the U.S, the rest was found in Finland or custom made. I have a buddy in Vaasa that sent me detailed measurements to hopefully get it right. Thanks for the compliment, being from Finland yourself, I am sure you have had the opportunity to see the real thing.

Nice work!

Yes, I´ve seen the real thing, many of my friends have one. Unfortunately I wasn´t smart enough to buy one when they were sold new from the factory. Now that the manufacturing has been ended, they cost WAY TOO MUCH! I just browsed the sell/buy-posts on couple of Finnish "guns and acessories"-boards. 1750 euros ( $2089USD) was the LOWEST price...

Damn  ...

Bringing this back to ask if anyone knows if the owner of this rifle, Chris, is still around? Wanted to get some feedback on the conversion and what the final cost was.
Thanks

Does anyone have the pictures that were on this thread? Would like to repost if available.

I have a virtually complete M92 kit including a B*T railed fore-end so I have some copies of the pics. They're a great reference point for those us considering a build. Next to impossible to find the parts anymore though.
