Are these the same port buffers that Robert at RTG Parts was selling (and maybe still is) some time ago?

That's a good thought. The Woodsman Pal is a "classic" of sorts. I've used one in the past and, quite frankly, wasn't all that impressed with the way it handled. Its angles didn't seem quite right to me.

"Tactical" Tomahawks

I'm considering purchasing a "tactical" / utility Tomahawk but have zero experience with them. Does anyone have any opinions, good or bad, about the different models available? I'm leaning toward a couple of the Australian Hardcore Hardware models.

The magazines I have show both types of feed lips. Most (but not all) of my 30 rounders have straight feed lips while most (but not all) of my 12 rounders show "folds" in the lips. As far as I know, the difference is purely a factor of how the metal was bent / formed and is not indicative of any pro...

Good question. Galil .223 magazines will fit in a Valmet rifle magazine. It is, however, NOT safe to use Galil magazines in a Valmet rifle. Cartridges do not feed from Galil magazines at the correct angle. Bullets from the cartridges can be pushed into the cartridge case during chambering. Firing su...

Hi Gray. I take it you're asking about magazines for the 7.62x39 chambered Valmet rifles. In my experience, both steel and polymer magazines are strong and reliable. The polymer seem to fit a bit "tighter" which, depending on your perspective, can be good or bad. I like and use both. It's a good ide...

Like the SIG 210, everyone should have at least one Browning HP. I might be wrong, but the ones currently manufactured seem to be as good or better than "pre-war" examples.

Congrats on your new FAL's. I think you should keep your M62. You need an "intermediate" cartridge rifle to help balance out ones you have chambered in 7.62x51.

I think the 2 most obvious differences are 1) the receiver itself, one being milled and the other being fabricated with stamped sheet steel and 2) the direction the stock folds. The stock folds to the left on stamped receiver models and to the right (ejection port side) on milled receiver models. A ...

Hi Mike. This might help some. I purchased one in comparable condition made during 1964 (serial number 1,4##) a few years ago. I paid $1,600 for it.

Attaching a side rail type mount on a Valmet receiver would lower its value to a purist or collector. A shooter, however, might benefit from having the rail available for scope attachment. To anyone considering such a modification, I'd recommend first trying the available top cover mount arrangement...

I've still got 2 Valmets in my safe that Ed sold me and 2 others from his estate. I recall after he died that someone described him as a big man with a big heart. Being a big man perhaps contributed to his early death, but I'd like to think that his big heart then saved him.

Hi AJ. Welcome to the site! Hope you get a chance to look around. There's lots of good info here and a lot of knowledgeable people who participate. I'm afraid I'm not much into small bore rifle shooting, so I won't try to answer your question. Perhaps some others will chime in. In the mean time, try...
