I've had good results using standard M193 ammunition (55 grain FMJ). I've been told that, despite the .233 Remington receiver stamping, Valmets were actually chambered for 5.56x45 NATO spec ammo. I've used XM193 and Winchester Q3131A without any problems.

I just paid $65 (shipped) for a "mint" condition port buffer. If another came up for sale, I'd probably pay that again. I don't think I'd pay more than $75 for a new one.

I'm not sure, but I'm under the impression that Valmet port buffers are interchangeable between the various models.

Very well worn. The sheath looks very good, though. Funny... I paid $150 for a new one a couple years ago and thought that was pricey. You gotta respect supply/demand.....

Interesting. Sure would like to see a photo of it if that's possible. I, too, have never experienced / seen a broken trunnion on a Valmet. I would think several unlikely events would have to occur to make that happen.

You got it. Prior to his death, Ed "Zeppelin" sold me a couple of his other M76's in 7.62x39. When I saw some of the others for sale (Sturmgewehr last month), I figured it would be a good opportunity to reunite his collection. I'm hoping he's "looking down" and smiling. I plan to keep them all toget...

It sound like you want to add to your collection. I'd suggest you purchase a model or variation of a model that you don't already have. If you already have a M76 in 7.62x39, purchase a M62 (or vice versa); or if you already have a M76 in 7.62x39, purchase a M76 in 5.56x45 (or vice versa)... you get ...

WTS - One Used 15 Round M62 Magazine (PIC)

I have for sale one used 15 round Valmet M62 7.62x39 magazine. The magazine has a minor, but noticeable, dent in one side (visible in the photo). It's a "user" mag. Terms: Price is $40 shipped. I'll accept your personal check, USPS money order, or U.S. Currency. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51...

MILLED M76 Folder in 7.62x39 ?

Does anyone have or has anyone seen a semi-auto Valmet M76 chambered in 7.62x39 built using a milled receiver with a stock that folds to the right? The only M76s I've seen chambered in 7.62x39 had stamped steel receivers equipped with stocks that were either fixed or folded to the left. I remember t...

While I've never had an issue with any of my folders, I think that probably, yes, there is some risk of corrosion/rust forming between the plastic "sheath" and the steel stock. I've never noticed condensation formation due to changing temperatures, and I've never subjected my rifles to rain; but I s...
