Valuations will vary depending on the rifle's condition. I think a like new example (milled or stamped) with one 20 round magazine would likely sell for about $1,800. Additional magazines and accessories (bayonet, port buffer) can add significantly to the value of the "package." Some of the stamped ...

Finnish Lahti 9mm Pistol Inquiry

Anyone have a Finnish Lahti 9mm pistol? Are there many of these in the USA? I can't find much information on these handguns. Every now and then I see a Swedish Lahti changing hands, but I can't remember when I last saw a Finnish version for sale. I seem to recall that the Lahti pistols were heavy an...

I've never seen or even heard of the existence of a select fire M76 in 7.62x51. If I recall correctly (and my brain's beginning to forget things). there was a fair amount of interest in conversions of assault style rifles chambered in 7.62x39 and RPK type rifles in any chambering, but nobody really ...

i think that, from a legal standpoint, most sellers "default" to FOB shipping point terms. Basically... the buyer is at risk once the merchandise leaves the seller's location.

Interesting, but not my "cup of tea." Someone went to a lot of trouble to "customize" the rifle and scope and magazine.

If you guys want, I can begin to post this info on my Valmet site for everyone.

I forgot how much info there was on Brian's site.
I think that would be great. Do you think it would be a good idea to ask Brian if he's OK with that?

Unfortunately, I never met Ed either. He and I talked on a few occasions, and I found him to be quite out of the ordinary (in a good way!). He was smart and funny and kind and in every way a good man. I had a lot of respect for him. Yes, from what I understand, Brian took Ed's death hard; and he did...

It's a good thing to think about and remeber Mr. "Zeppelin" now and then. He was one of the really good ones. RIP.

Good score. I've never owned (or shot) a M76 in .308, and I rarely see them available for sale. Now and then I see a polymer buttstock version for sale, but owners of the wood and tube stocked examples seem to hold onto them. Can't blame 'em... I'd hold onto them too. Don't worry... we won't tell yo...

I think you've, unfortunately, uncovered what's probably considered one of the weaknesses of the commercial Valmets that have wooden stocks. The butt plates are notorious for cracking and splitting. You're right, too, that it's very difficult to get an original replacement part. I've never contacted...

For what it's worth... I had some time, so I did some searching on the web and found what might be a reference to a Valmet in .222 Remington. It's an Italian website. I don't read Italian, but it appears to me that there might exist a "Valmet Modello 83" that's chambered in .222 Remington. Here is t...

Interesting. I can understand why some people might be a little skeptical about a Valmet chambered in .222 Remington, but seeing is believing. I wish we had access to some of Valmet's commercial production records so we could figure out how many of these were made and to whom they were marketed. Fro...

Makes sense. I'm not a reloader but, I think, the .243 is nothing more than the .308 necked down a bit.
