I think I 'll go to my safe bunker and re-fleck on this sad information. I have had my collection for many years and just now am I starting to become active in acquiring and selling and lusting after weapons and their history.. Thank you for the information my friend.. Don't despair. While the scar...

I wouldn't be surprised if the magazine forming equipment and tool sets were either passed on to SAKO or scrapped. I'm just guessing. If you're really interested in finding out, there's probably a some Finnish documentation available regarding the "reorganization" of Valmet and its product lines. Th...

The "Valmet" entity that manufactured firearms is no longer in existence. Some of its various industrial product lines (paper machines, power generation, automation, etc.) were acquired by a different entity, but its commercial weapons line was effectively eliminated in the 1990's (and really, in my...

WTS: Valmet Port Buffers - $80 Each

This afternoon (spurred by some recent communications) I performed a "physical" inventory on my spare Valmet rifle parts cache and located a few more Valmet port buffers. I purchased these from Robert (RTG Parts) a few years ago. They are in new, unused condition. I have 3 available for sale at a pr...

Hey Gray... just a heads-up. I've had good luck with the Arsenal AKs I've purchased over the years. I think the ones with milled receivers use receivers made in the USA rather than Bulgaria. If you want one with a Bulgarian receiver, you might have to get a stamped receiver model. The ones I have wi...

Got you. Thanks Tony. For what it's worth, my Sigarms PE57 shows serial number 3210. Feel free to add that to your database.

SIG PE57 Info?

A few questions.... Sigarms of Tysons Corner imported my SIG PE57 sometime prior to the 1989 arms import ban. Did anyone else import complete "pre-ban" semi-auto PE57 rifles into the USA? Does anyone have any idea how many PE57 rifles were imported into the USA by Sigarms? Does anyone (perhaps Tony?...

Good Stuff - Ragweed Forge & Roselli Knives

Just a heads-up...

I've recently purchased several Roselli knives from Ragweed Forge. I've found that Ragnar at Ragweed Forge is great to deal with. If you like "minimalist" but very functional and good looking knives, I can now highly recommend the Roselli brand.

Some owners have tried and like leather slings made for the Finnish M39 "Mosin Nagant" rifle. I purchased one some years ago and installed it on one of my Valmet M62s. It is green, and I was told it was possibly reindeer leather. It's traditional and strong, but it won't win any beauty contests and ...

In general, it's not necessary to mark the various parts. In the past, some manufacturers that made rifles for military service would mark serial numbers on key parts or assemblies to help prevent them from getting separated from the rifle during maintenance or repair. This was especially important ...

Others, too, with some frequency have reported no visible markings on their Valmet rifles to indicate an importer. I own a milled M78 in .308 that fits that description. I've never stripped the rifle beyond "field stripping" to look for markings. It's possible the import mark is beneath the hand gua...

I think the Beretta AR70 magazines you're seeing are "surplus" magazines that have become available as AR70 rifles are replaced by other rifles. I don't think there are any new production AR70 magazines for commercial rifles. I'm guessing ProMag's manufacture of new polymer Galil magazines was done ...

No, I've never heard of anyone attempting to modify 15 round Valmet magazine followers to increase magazine capacity. Such a modification could compromise reliability and would certainly lower the value of the factory magazine. It is likely that manufacturers have considered making both metal and po...

As long as the cartridge cases and the chamber of your Valmet are clean and smooth, you should be able to use the steel cased ammunition without any issues. Be sure to clean your rifle thoroughly after each shooting session paying special attention to the chamber. If the chamber of your rifle is a l...

Did you find any "burrs" or undue roughness inside the magazine body or on/around the follower while you were cleaning? If yes and if you eliminated those "burrs" or rough areas, you might be good to go without any new springs. I don't know where you can find replacement springs. That might be a tri...
