Do you use your sling to help support the rifle during firing, or do you mostly use it to help transport the rifle? I'd suggest trying a traditional Mosin-Nagant leather sling. They're relatively cheap and easy to find, and the leather's not going to melt as your rifle heats up. As far as correctnes...

The 7.62 x 51 (.308) IWI (or IMI) Galil magazines will fit (sometime very snugly) and can be used in the MILLED M78 Valmet rifles. I've been told, however, that they will not work for the STAMPED receiver M78 Valmets.

For what it's worth.... I purchased a case of Yugoslavian manufactured 7.62x39 cartridges about 15 years ago that was described as 1980's manufactured military surplus. I paid about $0.12 per round. Each paperboard box contains 15 rounds. My notes indicate these cartridges use 124 grain M67 FMJ Flat...

Any leads at all, Tony? I know you've been searching for this for a long time. I keep my eyes open, but I don't think I've seen a used one for sale the past couple of years... much less a new in package example.

Keep trying!

I think the demand for original Valmet rifles peaked during the 10 year Clinton assault rifle ban. Collectors and shooters who are in-the-know have largely satisfied their appetites for Valmet rifles and are moving to other interesting firearms. Younger collectors and shooters may not be all that fa...

Cool. I suspect a lot of us have been party to deals that, for various reasons, fail to go as smoothly as they should. Hope it works out okay.

If I was the winning bidder and had the seller's address, I think I'd simply make a screenshot of the winning bid, send that along with the $100 payment plus indicated shipping, and tell the seller I expect timely shipment of MY bayonet. If The shipper fails to ship the bayonet, I'd alert GB and see...

I think most shooters think highly of the Tony Rumore conversions. While I've never tried any, I've heard / read that they are safe and reliable in Valmet rifles. I haven't seen any trade hands in some time, but I would guess some shooters would pay as much as $80 to $100 and perhaps more for one in...

Many years ago some shooters had some limited success modifying steel 5.56x45 Polytech AK type magazines but, as I recall, the modification took some time and effort, and the resulting magazines fit loose and weren't all that reliable. Both the front and rear locking lugs required work as well as th...

Interesting. I don't think I've seen a milled M78 chambered for the 7.62x39 cartridge.

Mike... Aren't the 12 round 5.56 IMI magazines with white stripes ones that have been converted (unblocked?) from grenade round magazines to allow the use of standard ammo? It seems to me that all of the ones I see being sold commercially have the white stripes these days. No matter. From what I hea...
