Refinishing Valmet wood

I sanded down a particularly grungy M76 stock and was amazed at how pretty the wood was . The factory finish seemed to consist of some kind of spray on red stain. Anyone else refinish one of these beauties?

Whoa! I check GB but I've never heard of EB, looks like an excellent source. Thanks! Oh crap. I just saw the 'No Shipping Outside Finland" part.

HK's in 7.62x51mm are more like $18K+ !!! Fully transferable M78's are definitely undervalued ( presumably due to lack of parts availability ) . Tony Parts availability is a biggie. If you can get spare firing pins, extractors, magazines etc then it becomes much more attractive. In t...

Thanks, this is Tom in Evansville, I bought a port buffer from you a few weeks ago. Thanks again for that! If you do come across any pins could you please give me a whistle?

I saw the photo, that's not a factory Valmet mag. It may be a factory mag, and it might fit a Valmet but that's as far as I would go.

Thanks, mags are clean and I looked for springs. Would a 30 round AK mag spring work in these 40 round mags?

Wonder if it could be the rifle? Seems kind of unlikely. My only thoughts were that by the time I got to the last couple of rounds the mag spring wasn't strong enough to push the round all the way up and it pancaked as the bolt came forward.

MCP and LIQ magazine function

I have 3 of these 40 round magazines, 1 MCP and 2 LIQ. All three have failed the first time I used them, the last or next to last round not feeding properly and the bullet pancakes back into the brass cartridge case. Since these magazines are getting older, is this possibly a weak spring issue? If s...

Thanks, I just took delivery of an M76F and the folding stock does seem quite robust. I think I still prefer the Galil folding stock hinge, but I like the look of the tube.

M76 Folding stocks

All of the M76 folding stock models I've seen fold to the left. I know I read somewhere that the left handed folding hinges were weak and replaced by folding stocks that folded to the right. Is that true? Or do I have some bad intel?
