Not mine and I already grabbed his .223 kit. These things are rather hard to find...

I may be incorrect here. If you compare the top cover to a Chinese cover - they are the same. Valmet sold the mounts as universal and I think, either an importer or other company put those together. Military mounts were scarce so they made up their own. The only mounts I've seen in Valmet catalogues...

Unfortunately, I fear that the electoral college has already made up their minds giving the pessimistic among us the feeling our votes don't count anyway. To think, we actually complained about Bill Clinton. The computer geeks are saying how easy it is to hack the new all-electronic voting system. I...

I've seen several - usually listed as an M39 sling. The Valmet sling is basically the same as the M39 sling. I don't recall if the the oval buckle was just a different manufacturer or an earlier variant. I've never seen one on a Valmet.

Thanks - started as a SAR2 - AIMS74 export version with the exception of the lower handguard. This version used a bulged AKM lower. I'll dig one up eventually :)

The SAR's, at least the SAR2 is built on a military Romanian receiver. Same receiver used on the AIMS-74; they just didn't drill the third axis pin hole. Other than the notorious trigger slap from using a Century FCG there are rarely any other complaints other than canted sights. http://i203.photobu...

Rings are Sako/Valmet rings - still made. Scopes are tough to find but when I was looking, I ran across one on occasion. Trick is finding the early military railed top cover - not like the more common commercial type. Since I have the mount, this may prod me into looking for another scope :)

Since the grip looks like the Qatar model - my guess is that Valmet may have made up some presentation models for the officials, etc.

Could be mistaken but I thought I saw one listed in the last Longmountain Outfitters catalogue I received. On occasion, they have some odd Valmet parts.

Last .223 M78 I saw sold for under 2k. Last one in 7.62x39 I saw sell sold for around $3500. 7.62x51's around $1800 or so and depends greatly on how many mags come with it since they sell for at least $200 plus each.
