M-88: Hunter/Petra Values, On GunsAmerica and GunBroker over the course of the last year there have been a number which have had reserves over $1500. They have not been sold. The ones which have sold did so at the high end of half that. The last two sold in the last month at under $900. The blue boo...

Mike, I have seen the cheek piece. Two of my hunters show wear from one, but, came without it. They also came without extra mags, scope mount or the port buffer. With the range of bullet weights available in .243 or .30-06 I am not surprised that they would compensate mechanically, but, I have also ...

Entry Level and Valmet in the same sentence? First, be prepared from the start to save for the next one. Yes, you might think you want one now, but, after actually handling and shooting one, anticipate that you will want another even more. Start saving for the milled tube stock M-76 in 7.62*39 now. ...

Mike,

On subject, I believe it is aftermarket. But, notice it is not exactly highlighted in his photos or description, maybe the seller is very aware of this.

Off subject...

Tom,

Free roaming large herds of beautiful... This tread has become worthless without pictures.

Duke,

Nice first post, excellent rifle and pics. It looks perfect. I know it has gone up in value in the time you owned it, but, it can not easily be replaced. It has long been banned by name and even if it could now be imported it is long out of production.

Yes, but remember that the action of an AK is much more robust than even the action of a Daewoo. The daewoo's top is aluminum, but it is forged and then milled. It is the upper receiver and it is quite stiff. A sheet steel top cover will always have its limits. I have seen airguns ruin a cheap scope...

Roger, If your friend made them from M-14 mags and did not add side plates they would work in the hunters, the M-76 and the m-78. They would have a little play in the m-78 but they would work. The same cannot be said for the g-3 m-78 mags. Sorry about continuing to hijack this tread. Back to the ori...

The workmanship looks good,

The welds look consistent, directed at the mounts, not the sheet. It looks like good penitration without burn through.

I would use this mount for some of the modern optics, or a red dot.

It looks like a galil top cover which never had the sights installed. I wonder if the fore and aft bases are on the same horizontal plane. The rear base is mounted on a higher position of the dust cover. This is why I suspect it is not factory. It could be the manufacturer compensated with a spacer,...

Guess it is my day to be alot wrong.

That is a useful scope on a .308. Nice combination in spite of the fact it makes your rifle look very black and evil.

Thanks for the pics, and again tempting me to correct my neutered hunters.

This is not quite a minute of angle gun.

But, it will do better than any other AK. And it will work just fine for hog.

The .243 hunter indeed uses the same mag as the .308 M-76. They are not inexpensive and are hard to find.

EDITED: Ment to include the double negative. Stated what I wished, which is a contrary to the fact condition.

mbira, Members on this board have posted a M-76 in .243. Vito also sold one. So they do exist. And the hunter stock might be more available. But, the hunters came in several varieties, also. The largest external clue would be the magazine release. Does it look like a standard M-76 or does it match t...
