JS, One of my .308 hunters shares magazines with the .243. This is common. However, the other uses the same magazine body as the .30-06. It uses the same followers and springs as the .243 magazines with a spacer placed in the back of the magazine. There is still tolerance remaining for cartridges to...

Welcome Pirmin,

The rifle and pictures are both appreciated.

Ironic, that after Valmets are no longer produced that the law changes in 2003 so that the other varients become legal.

"oh my god, my english" is excellent.

Should I have to part from my guns those would be the last two. Spend a life collecting two hundred guns and then not find someone to share them with? Someone needs to take her shooting so she might come to enjoy the hobby. Experiencing their use is the best way to introduce the uninitiated or preju...

Before you proceed any further buy, or borrow, a 7.62*39 bolt and compare it to your Valmet .308 bolt. Then you will realize that the receiver is cut for the much larger bolt lugs.

Not to say this can be done, but, it will not be anywhere near as simple as it sounds.

Two different companies machined an adapter for a Valmet receiver. One of them was just a few minutes away, in this part of Wisconsin. I do not have the information to recommend one over the other. JMikeSteen actually had one, maybe he would recommend the manufacturer. I believe that all that was in...

It is possible a member of the forum might have one.

Samppa V, in Finland, is the first person I would contact.

If an immediate solution is needed I would buy a saiga top cover with HK sights mounted on it from Tony, AGG.

The Army has had two goals for the new ammunition. The first is that it be greener. They wanted something more environmentally friendly than lead. I shit you not. The second goal was improved lethality. Many of the original materials examined in the attempt to replace the lead were found to also be ...

M62/76,

If its last owner had just used the rifle he probably would have been less willing to part with it.

My own experience has been to use them. If it functions to expectations, and I sell it, I have always eventually regretted the sale.

No information supporting my guess, but, it is unlikely any were imported. I would like to know how many were made in total.

Most hunter mags are identical. But, some few .308 hunters use the .30-06 mag body with a spacer in the back. Over here using hunter magazines would not be a solution as they are not any more available than the M-76. If you can get them, they will work, and you will have a ready market here for any ...

As expensive or unavailable as they are, there are very sound reasons to stick with factory made magazines in the Valmet .308. If you were to make more I would suggest that you start with Beretta M-59 mags and determine the exact placement your particular rifle demands when modifying them. Remember ...

Welcome Kuda,

Nice rifle. I concur with the advice given about the mags.

As for the value, M-76s are not inexpensive as you now know. But, expect it to please you enough that you will eventually own another Valmet.
