Re: Valmet m78 conversion by Hard Times Armory

It's milled. I don't have pictures. It's at my gunsmiths place so it'll be a while before I can get to it.
I'll send the SN soon.

Valmet m78 conversion by Hard Times Armory

I have a M78 that was a converted from 308 to 7.62x39 and then to auto by Hard Times Armory. They have a not so good reputation. I've had a lot of work done to this gun and it was running like a top. Now my barrel is done for. The rounds are getting stuck in the chamber. Does anyone have any knowled...

Re: M-78 sling

So I just picked up a new sling. I'm concerned about having factory correct, this is a VTAC sling. The issue I'm having is what to use to attach the front of the sling to the sling loop on the gun. The sling will fit through it. The issue is this is an auto and I'm pretty sure it'll melt the sling....

It was converted to auto and 7.62x39 from 308 by Hard Times Armory. It runs great though. The mags sit a little loose but it runs well. I thought it had a gas issue to start but it sat for a couple years before I got it. I think there was carbon built up in the gas tube because it's been running gre...

Is there any aftermarket furnature that would fit a M-78

My tax stamp cam through and I finally have my M-78! It's a milled 7.62x39 gun. I was thinking if I could find aftermarket furniture for it to save the original maybe I would. I'm not seeing anything out there even close. The closest I saw that I thought might was the Tapco AK/ Galil forgrip. It loo...

The dealer who has it right now told me it had gas issues because of the conversion but it is running now. I would guess it would need more gas to function with the smaller round.

I'm waiting for a FA transfer of a M78 that was a 308 converted to 7.62X39 by Hard Times Armory so it can be done. I'm learning more about the gun as I go. I'm still not sure what barrel is in it, but the bolt is a standard AK bolt. Really thats for the better since Valmet parts are very hard to get...

They don't. This conversion was done pre-86. The guy told me it was the original bolt. Today I took some measurements and looked at the pictures of the bolt. The bolt is almost identical to the one in my Romanian AES-10 RPK, also similar the the Yugo bolt but much closer to the Romy. I'm ok with tha...

I can but it'll be a while. I don't plan to be back by the shop for some time. The did say the barrel was replaced to chamber the other bullet so I would guess it's not a Valmet barrel.

Got some new info about the gun from the gunsmith that works at the shop. The only thing that isn't still 308 parts is the barrel. The bolt and carrier are 308. So now I'm looking for 308 parts. Glad I figured that out before buying anything. So I brought in a couple bolts I had in other guns to com...

I can. I don't actually have the gun yet, my transfer isn't complete and won't be until around October or November but I plan to go the the shop this week. I'll take some detailed photos of the inside and out.
