To answer your other question, yes, in theory, you can put the B&T rail handguard on an M76. To do this, you will need to find a complete set of RK95 handguard retainers. The threads on the outside of the barrel are the same, but the RK95 handguard is longer than the M76 one, and so the RK95 retaine...

And it doesn't even have a riveted green leather sheath.

Crazy.

Well the weather was really nasty this weekend so I didn't go to the match.

There will be another one in a couple months or so. Between now and then I'm going to try to work up a high-quality load using the .311 174gr SMK and Lapua brass.

Is there a particular reason you don't want to use a wood Galil stock? They used to be really cheap, not sure anymore though.

His version is "padded" to say the least. The base rifle is just not worth $1600 to begin with. For $1600 I'd expect it to be 100% NIB, styrofoam insert, manual, etc. Valmet bayos are expensive but they aren't worth $400+. Highest I have ever seen on ebay (where bidding gets crazy and stuff sells fo...

The standard Valmet barrel threading is M14x0.75.

I'm not sure if this applies to the M62/M76 only, or if it also applies to the M71 though.

Hopefully somebody can answer if these will thread on a standard AK barrel...

The wood M62 I used to own had no sling swivel on the buttstock at all.

The side-mount sling loop that was used on the M76 would require a substantial cutout to be milled from the side off the stock. I'd think twice about doing this to your M62's stock unless you have a spare.

Yes and a fixed tube 76 7.62x39 sold today I bet on Sturm for $3200. Buddy from Strumgewehr told me the same story about the scarcity of ammo. Did Brian finally sell his 76 stamped tube? He has been trying to sell it for YEARS. The fixed tube stamped 7.62x39 Valmet may be super rare, but rarity wit...

Shoot it. When you do, just make sure you shoot good ammo through it, take good care of it, and it'll be fine. The 76W is one of the most common Valmets, maybe even the most common of them all. If it was a genuinely NIB milled 76 folder in 7.62x39, not shooting it might make sense, but for your gun ...

Smells like BS.

Mick, I think you're on the right track. My guess is that he bought the gun with a Chicom scope mount on it, slapped one of the recently imported top covers on, and is trying to pass it off as original.
